this is mia’s story as told by her mama, sue rogers of the mia foundation …
my precious mia was born with a cleft palate. mia had several surgeries, (all of which had failed.) although she was taken to the top universities and to the top veterinarians, she was given little hope of survival. i was told that euthanasia was best. i refused to give up on her and vowed to fight for her as long as she continued to fight.
mia was given a chance at life and even though her life was short-lived, she lived it to the fullest. mia faced many medical obstacles on her journey, but she never let it overpower her love for life. she’s inspired over 10,000 people world-wide and continues to create miracles.
sadly, mia passed away from pneumonia on april 11th, 2012. just two months shy of her 2nd birthday. her legacy lives on through the mia foundation, which was created in her honor. it was developed to give animals born with birth defects a fighting chance. mia was given a chance and in return gave so much love, hope and inspiration to people all around the world. i have come to realize that mia was sent here to help us all in whatever way possible.
mia was brought to this earth to show us courage and unconditional love. she was here to bring loving, caring people together from all over the world and to teach us all to never give up no matter what obstacles we may face. she taught us to be brave, to be strong, and to smile in the face of adversity. most importantly, to love!
since her death, mia’s story has inspired people to adopt animals with birth defects that may have otherwise been overlooked or not given a chance at life and love. mia has educated thousands of people from all walks of life on how to care for a special needs animal. she has raised awareness as to, “if they are born, they deserve a chance to live!”
because of mia’s strength, determination, love and will to live, she has enriched the lives of countless individuals. her zest for life was unlike any i have ever seen and her tiny paw left a huge imprint on everyone’s heart. please enjoy this heart-warming video of mia’s song that was released on september 9th, 2012. composed by singer/songwriter brittany lane.

This is so wonderful!!! our little dog also have some problems, she was born dead, but we did everything to bring her to live and she is alive!! she is on 7 janyary 2 years old, but her brain is not, het brain things like a 2 mounth old pup. also she is a fighter!! she also has an hip deviation, but she is the fastest of all!! she brings a smile on our faces!!
this is such a wonderful u have done in her memory for all the animals whom r born different this has brought tears to my eyez but in joy that someone cares this much to save another livin bein mia was n still is such a beautiful soul so i want to say thank you for all ur doin n have done for these wonderful animals

Mia was an amazing and special angel. she was an inspiration and she inspired me and gave me strength when i really needed it. i was in a very bad place and felt as the whole world was caving in on me. then i found this amazing, wonderful creature and saw what she was going thru and how she never gave up. i figured if this little angel could go thru all of that and not let it get her down and never break her spirit. If she could go thur all of that and not give up then why am i allowing myself to beat myself up and and fight.
thank you mia for giving me the strength to fight and the courage to live my life and move forward and fight. thank you Mia. i wish that i could have met you and thank you for giving me strength. i love you and miss you sweetpea.

i was priviledge enough to meet sue and mia here in tampa, fl. it was the most amazing visit i have ever had. little mia may have been a tiny baby girl, but her spirit was very large and her heart was even larger. holding her and actually seeing that she was real brought a comfort to my soul that i will never forget. sue is an amazing lady who fought to keep mia going every day, beyond all the obstacle that where in her way. and mia fought a mighty fight. after mias death, sue could have given up but she pushed on and started the mia foundation which is helping other babies live their lives when others would just have them put to sleep.

Mia and her owner Sue have touched my life in so many ways. The courage that Mia had was astounding and she has and always will be my guiding light. mia and sue have inspired me to look at the world in a much different way and see the miracles that occur every day in this journey called “life”. I love both of them with all of my heart..
mia’s story and life totally changed me and the way i treat others…i was a total hardass before but now its easier to be nice…
when i came upon mia’s page i was astounded as to her popularity and profound effect she had on the world…she totally changed my life…i was a total “hard ass” and was high strung and didnt gave a crap about anyone or anything…MIa was my savior…ive totally changed my way of thinking and treat others the way i wish to be treated…it is much easier to be nice…i like where i am in my life now…being calmer is much easier on me…i like “ME” now…
I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful little angel and her mom sue rogers. It is a day that i will never ever forget. To be able to hold her little body and kiss her perfect little face and head.. it was a dream come true. i miss you so much mia. you will forever be in my heart sweet baby girl.
