do chihuahuas even need a life jacket in the first place? can’t all dogs swim?
no, all dogs can’t swim and many don’t like water. breeds with low body fat like a doberman pinscher and a chihuahua can have trouble in the water. older dogs can tire easily and if your chihuahua has arthritis or hip problems, they may have difficulty swimming as well. it doesn’t matter how well your dog can swim, it’s still possible for them to drown. you never know what will happen as they may tire fast or somehow become disoriented or distracted.
most dog life jackets have lifting handles (as you see with molly the chihuahua in the picture above) that make retrieving your chihuahua much easier for you and safer. it’s handy too because you can pick them up at any time and carry them, both in the water and out.

My Chihuahua is very slender she’s a little over 4 pounds she has hip knee problems so my doctor wants me to let her swim around the tub so I need a floating jacket. Can you please give me a suggestion?

Do you provide any life jackets where the “floaty” part is located under the dogs chest?
I cant seem to find any like this. They are all located on the back or side. My chihuahua is 3/3.5 pounds. Shes slender and short and nothings seems to fit her, and looks like the life jacket would cause more trouble (from not fitting correctly/floaty areas where she doesnt need it) than help.
